Perhaps the most important is an almost mystical ability to vanish from sight. A good rogue could be standing within just a few feet of his foe and they are none the wiser as to his presence.
From this almost omnipotent position, he can strike without mercy, with a specialised club used to stagger a foe for almost a full minute in some cases.
Or, if he feels like it, he can take the opportunity for a crippling kidney shot or good old fashioned stab in the back, with their opponents already half dead before they have even registered they are under attack.
Keeping friends around is no protection either! Rogues are adept at distraction – a pebble shifting in another area, a whisper of motion off there somewhere, and he has split groups apart where they are easy pickings to his hide-and-seek style of combat.
While a WoW Rogue can deal awesome damage, subtlety is his art form and where murder is not tasteful, he has a number of other tricks up his sleeve. Quite able to pick a purse from a passing guard, he can make good living simply relieving unsuspecting saps of their gold
